William Hill Bingo did it, Foxy Bingo did it, Mecca bingo did it and now finally Betfair Bingo has done it as well. After being in the bingo business for almost a year now, Betfair Bingo has launched their first television marketing campaign.
The whole campaign is based on mobile bingo rather than the traditional PC which most brands focus on when advertising. And rightfully so. Smartphones brought us computing power in the palm of our hands or in our pockets. We can do almost everything on our smartphones that we are able to do on our PC’s, except now we can do it on the run.
And just as expected, there is already criticism surrounding the campaign. Apparently the marketing team didn't know what they were doing and created an ad without any sense. Well I for one found it entertaining but most of all unique. Who likes predictability and clichés?
If you want to stand out in this business you have to come up with something different, and the more controversy you create around your product the more clients you draw to it. The advert is just that. I found myself watching it over and over again on YouTube, just because it's quirky. And if I wouldn't have known the brand it would definitely want to make me visit Betfair Bingo, even if only to see if it’s as quirky as the ad itself.
